BBA 210: Financial Flow - Follow the Money

Estimated Hours Per Week: 5

Overview

This course is a financial primer that integrates finance and accounting into a dynamic view of the process by which cash flows through an organization. Students will follow the money as it moves into the organization from customers, bankers or other investors through the organization creating value and out in payments to employers, investors, etc. In contrast with the functional view of the organization found in BBA101, this course presents an organization as a process for creating value for customers, employees, and equity owners.

Because many students may have a limited background in financial accounting, this course assumes little prior knowledge in finance or accounting and is suitable for virtually any student. It does not assume that students have already completed the JIU accounting (BBA 306), finance (BBA 307) or economics (BBA 305) courses, although these courses would be very helpful in mastering the material in BBA 210. None of this should be taken to mean that this will not be a challenging course. It will be.
