MBA 613: Risk Assessment and Management

Overview

Risk management plays a critical role in maintaining an appropriate and acceptable organizational security posture. Assessing threats, vulnerabilities and risks is key in protecting an organization from adversaries and from potential attacks. This course covers methods to protect intellectual property and approaches to the management and development of organizational structures to implement and enforce compliance. Students will develop a risk management plan for an organization that includes risk assessment and management considerations.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Determine potential threats and vulnerabilities an organization faces, and analyze the impact they have on the organization's risk.
  • Conduct a comprehensive gap analysis of systems to identify specific vulnerabilities and plan for prevention and avoidance of costly mistakes. Identify current risk management processes within an organization.
  • Develop a risk management plan for an organization.
