This course explores the tax consequences of many sophisticated business, financial, and personal wealth-planning transactions. It is designed to 1) acquaint you with the economic and social policy issues of taxation; 2) examine the common ground between financial theory and tax law; and 3) develop a framework of federal income taxation that allows for future tax law changes. You will be challenged to think critically and discuss conceptual and technical tax issues covered in each module. Additionally, you will apply technical material covered in each module, often requiring calculation in deriving numerical solutions. This course is based on AICPA standards.
